To all the more be efficient and effective in their duty, members of the Society of Communicators and Networkers International (SCAN) in the Ecclesiastical District of Albay in the Philippines underwent a timely refresher course on February 8, 2020.
Before the seminar proper, they held a special worship gathering for their spiritual nourishment. Brother Macleo Ibasco, district supervising minister, officiated at the sacred occasion held at the house of worship of the Local Congregation of Daraga. He said in an interview, “They [SCAN members] know that their duties are not just for their fellowmen but most of all to God. They already proved this in the district by responding quickly during calamities, such as when Mayon Volcano would erupt and in times of typhoons. They help people―Church Of Christ members and nonmembers alike.”
The SCAN members then proceeded to the Barangay Peñafrancia Covered Court, Daraga, Albay for the seminar workshop.
As to the aim of the seminar, Senior Fire Officer 3 (SFO3) Marvin de Jesus stated, “This is to prepare the [SCAN] members for they perform a delicate duty, thus they need to be given training, seminar, and lecture.”
The attendees learned additional knowledge. Brother Alfredo Deo, a SCAN member, said, “I learned about giving first aid for accidents such as vehicular accident.”
Afterwards, they performed what they learned. “In this way they can be assessed if they are ready to conduct rescue and help others especially in calamities,” De Jesus said. ― With reports from INC News Section
