The Ecclesiastical District of New Zealand on January 7, 2023 hosted an appreciation activity for the benefit of the law enforcers of Ba, a town four hours north by land from Suva, the capital of Fiji.

Brother Dennis Dahunan, the district supervising minister, and fellow ministers of the gospel, Brothers Edgar Hernandez and Daniel Diaz, flew in from New Zealand. They were joined in the activity by brethren from the Ba, Fiji group worship service (GWS).

Dubbed ‘Police Appreciation Day,’ the activity, which was held at the function room of the Ba Police Hall, “aimed to recognize the efforts and hard work of the local police officers in doing their job for the safety and welfare of the people in their community,” explained Brother Hernandez.

An officer in the police force, Unaisi Kinikini, enthused, “It’s an honor and privilege to be chosen as the beneficiary of this activity. We are so blessed that you chose us and we appreciate you for coming here, it means a lot for all of us. On behalf of my colleagues, we thank you so much.”

During the activity, Brother Dahunan took the opportunity to introduce the Church Of Christ and some of the teachings of the Bible that it upholds. The delegation of brethren then handed out thank you cards and care packages containing basic grocery items.

Ip Ana Nai, one of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude that “the words of God were also shared to us” which served as a reminder that “we ought to learn about what our responsibilities to God are.” She added, “I thank the Church Of Christ for visiting the enlisted personnel here in Ba. This means a lot to us especially that we are now approaching a new year.” — With reports from INC News Section
