Asia 1B INCinema Awards highlight talent, teamwork

The INCinema Regional Awards held on September 12, 2021, recognized the talents and teamwork of the brethren who gave time and effort for the production of their respective district’s entry for INCinema 2021.  

The Ecclesiastical Districts of South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Nagoya, and Tokyo, Japan were grouped under Asia 1B. The Ecclesiastical District of South Korea hosted the activity through videoconferencing.

The entries of each district this year are as follows: “Bisikleta” of South Korea, “Friendzone” of Hong Kong, “Meet-Up” of Macau, “Kintsugi” of Nagoya, Japan, “Lente” of Taiwan, and “Shukufuku” of Tokyo, Japan. A panel of judges reviewed each of the film entries before the awards night.

The online activity brought together the INCinema teams of each district in one virtual room. Brethren involved in the INCinema production in each of the districts gathered together and connected to the host site.

The entry of South Korea entitled “Bisikleta,” won the Best Film Award. Its “Ilagak ang Tiwala” also bagged the Best Original Theme song and Best in Promoting Christian Values awards. Several members of the cast and crew of the entry of South Korea also won awards: Charina Mae Manigbas got the Best Makeup and Costume Design and Best in Cinematography, Chris Antonette Pugay won the Best Supporting Actress, Kyutaek Hong got the Best Supporting Actor, Jay Mike Catanyag won the Best Editing, Gleen de Guzman got the Best Screenplay, Samuel Meneses won the Best Musical Score, and Fermin Valdon got the Best Director award.

“Friendzone” of Hong Kong won the Best Trailer award. Kevin Lorenzo de Guzman won as Best Actor and Pamela Sandra Amado as Best Actress. Shannel Louie Namba of “Shukufuku” got the Best Child Performer award. Best Poster was awarded to “Kintsugi” of Nagoya, Japan.

Best Actor, Kenzo said in an interview, “Being a part of this film is definitely, a tough but fulfilling experience. We are also glad that we were given opportunities to showcase our talents and all of the hard work and sacrifices that we made. Thank you very much.” ― With reports from INC News Section
