The Ecclesiastical District of Australia East held a sports-themed “Welcome, My Brethren,” which allowed newly baptized members, as well as those in the process of joining the Church, to participate in fun-filled sports games with the brethren.

Made possible by the concerted efforts of the officers in the Christian Family Organizations (CFO) as well as in the Light of Salvation (LOS), the sporting event was held simultaneously on January 8, 2023, in five venues, namely, Kevin Betts Stadium in Mount Druitt, Coomera Indoor Sports Centre in Gold Coast, Mackay Central State School, Cairns Bowling, and Plantation Park, Australia.

According to Brother Marc Leo Ibasco, the district LOS overseer, “newly baptized members, prospective members, and doctrinal instructees, together with brethren who were instrumental in their conversion as well as Church officers who help those in the process of joining the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ), actively participated” in the sports activity. They attended the said activity in the venue nearest their respective local congregation.

“There were friendly matches of games like volleyball, badminton, bowling, and chess,” Brother Richard Esperanza, the district CFO overseer, explained. “The activity also served as a family bonding moment as some of the parents came along to watch and support their loved ones.” — With reports from Jensen Mañebog and Marc Leo Ibasco
