A day after their local congregation’s 65th anniversary, Iglesia Ni Cristo members from the Local Congregation of Babatngon, Ecclesiastical District of Leyte East in the Philippines held a coastal clean-up activity on September 3, 2021.
Led by resident minister, Brother Azenel V. Legaspi, the brethren walked the 500-meter distance from their house of worship at San Antonio Street, Barangay Poblacion to the coastal area at the neighboring Barangay Poblacion II. With their broomsticks, dustpans, rakes, and sacks, they gathered and disposed of debris littering the beachfront.
“This activity, which is in line with our anniversary celebration, fosters not only the brethren’s sense of responsibility and concern for the environment but also awareness of the importance of being in good health,” said Brother Legaspi.
On behalf of the congregation, he added, “We will continue to be fortified in the faith against overwhelming trials, being inspired by the words of God tirelessly taught and exemplified by the Executive Minister. We will always trust in what God will do for our sake.”
A week after the clean-up drive, the brethren were blessed with the opportunity to attend the livestreamed worship service led by Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, the Executive Minister, from the Iglesia Ni Cristo Central Office complex in Quezon City. — With reports from INC News Section
