Brethren from all the 20 local congregations in Dumaguete City and the towns of Tanjay and Manjuyod under the Ecclesiastical District of Negros Oriental, in the Philippines, participated in the blood donation drive hosted by their district on August 23, 2022. The activity was held at centrally located Sibulan Covered Court.

The activity was facilitated by the local government unit (LGU) of Sibulan, with officers of the Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS) assisting.

After the required health screenings, blood extraction from the qualified donors commenced. A total of 65 units, each at 500cc, were collected and then turned over to the Red Cross blood bank in Dumaguete City.

“I often volunteer because I see it as a worthwhile endeavor, that is, being of help to my fellowmen, in unity with the Church Administration, and, mostly, for the glory of God,” said Brother Reycon Bactol, from the Local Congregation of Bindoy.

First-time blood donor Jonairy Sitchon, a candidate for baptism from the Local Congregation of Dumaguete City, said, “I decided to donate because I could be of help to others’ welfare through this. I also hope to inspire others to become a blood donor.”

“Qualified individuals can donate every three months,” shared Michelle Maguiling, health practitioner, who assisted in the blood donation. “When one donates blood, he gets to be checked up by a physician. Also, you get to save many lives.” — With reports from INC News Section
