The Ecclesiastical District of Brazil recently opened a group worship service (GWS) for the brethren residing in Piabetá, a large settlement in the municipality of Magé, in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

Only last year, in July 2021, the Church’s work of propagation began in Piabeta by the officers and brethren from the Local Congregation of Rio de Janeiro. The work was soon taken over by the brethren residing in the area themselves.

Brother Joseph Yosoya, the resident minister, confirmed that brethren from Piabeta “are diligent in propagating God’s words to their loved ones, friends, and neighbors.” In recent months, more people there were baptized and many more are undergoing Bible studies. For this, the Church Administration gave the Piabeta brethren permission to hold their own worship service in their area.

On August 12, 2022, Brother Rene P. Manansala, the district supervising minister, led the inaugural worship service of the new GWS in its approved place of worship—a rented hall at Rua Braulio Vidal 612, Parque dos Artista.

The brethren from Piabetá used to travel more than 40 kilometers in order to attend Church gatherings. With the establishment of the GWS there, they could now perform their services to God much closer to their homes.

One of them, Angela Maria Urbana Da Silva, formerly from the Local Congregation of Rio de Janeiro, expressed joy and thankfulness for this development. “Our GWS’s being near all the more enables us to introduce the true Church to our fellowmen. Also, this progress inspires us brethren residing here to be even more devoted in serving God,” she said. — With reports from INC News Section
