Spearheaded by the Christian Family Organizations (CFO) officers from the Ecclesiastical District of Calamba City, Laguna, the first Christian Society for the Deaf (CSD) Camp this year gathered hundreds of attendees from the district and 12 other districts in Calabarzon region of the Philippines, namely, Cavite; Cavite South; San Pablo City, Laguna; Sta. Cruz, Laguna; Batangas; Batangas North; Rizal; Rizal East; Quezon; Quezon North; Quezon East; and Quezon South.

Held on January 28, 2023 at Alonte Sports Arena in Zapote St., Biñan City, Laguna, the said activity “is part of the CSD’s countdown to its 10th anniversary this year,” said Brother Jay-R Barcebal, CSD Adviser of the Ecclesiastical District of San Pablo City, Laguna. “It aimed at conveying to our Deaf brethren the love and concern the Church Administration has for them, resulting to their being even more active in serving God,” added Brother Jener Tumanlao, CSD adviser of the host district.

The attendees, hearing and Deaf alike, participated in several interactive games the CSD officers prepared with respective booths. Some of the fun activities are the Sign Language and Fingerspelling Challenge, Mini Basketball Shootout, Board Games, Draw the Sign Challenge, Memory Games, and Rock Paper Scissors.

The booth ‘Deaf Meet and Greet’ paved the way for brethren to know more about each other, even forging new friendships. “The games are truly enjoyable, what more with having met many brethren in this activity.” Alvin Lad, Deaf member from Cavite South District, expressed through Sign Language. — With reports from INC News Section
