Members of the Local Congregation of Iloilo City, Ecclesiastical District of Iloilo South shared the true faith with their fellowmen through the Church’s religious program, “Reconnect: An Evangelical Mission.” Among those they invited were members of the Deaf community.
In the propagational event held on March 15, 2022, the brethren and guests watched an episode of “Reconnect” entitled “Determinado sa Kaligtasan” (Filipino: determined to gain salvation). Brother Angel Frank del Castillo and Brother Jenmarc Gonzales, ministers of the gospel, discussed and simultaneously interpreted in Sign Language what the Bible teaches that people must strive to fulfill to be saved on the Day of Judgment. Based on the discussion, they emphasized that people must prioritize becoming members of the true Church Of Christ.
As part of the program, the guests were also able to watch Christine Joy Patriarca’s story of conversion into the Church Of Christ. A member of the Deaf community, Patriarca decided to join the Church after being convinced with the words of God taught in the Iglesia Ni Cristo.
One of the attendees, Mr. Rene Resbo, who is deaf, was interviewed after the program, and shared, “I will continue to examine the teachings upheld in the Iglesia Ni Cristo, so that I can learn how I will be saved.”
“What the Church is striving to do, under the leadership of the Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, is to invite many more people to listen to the teachings we uphold, so that they, too, would be called into the Church. That is why evangelical missions with sign language interpretation are important for us to be able to reach out to the deaf community as well,” said Brother Orlando Ordan, minister of the gospel and adviser of the Christian Society for the Deaf (CSD) in the Iloilo South District. — With reports from INC News Section
