Members of various local congregations in the Ecclesiastical District of Iloilo North heeded the call of the district leadership to participate in a blood donation drive held on September 28, 2022.

Brethren from the district’s 31 congregations flocked to the multipurpose hall  within the Sara Congregation’s chapel compound for the said activity, which was conducted in cooperation with and for the benefit of the Western Visayas Medical Center.

“We thank the Iglesia Ni Cristo [Church Of Christ] for regularly organizing a blood donation activity,” said Dr. Leonnie Mae Gallo of the WVMC. “We’ve seen how many [Church] members went here to donate blood and this is a huge impact in helping many of our fellowmen.”

Pertinent staff of the WVMC and officers of the Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS) in the district worked hand in hand in the required procedures from pre-screening to the collection of blood.

Joan Santillana, a nurse aid and CMDPS officer from the Ardemil Congregation, shared, “It’s good for the heart. It lessens the risk of having heart attack and any heart diseases.”

More than its attendant health benefits, Lance Alexander Antenor from the Gibato Congregation, voluntarily donated blood because “it’s my way of expressing my unity with the Church Administration through the activities spearheaded by the Christian Family Organizations (CFO).

“We’d like to extend our thanks to the Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, as well as to the CFO Coordinator, Brother Angelo Eraño V. Manalo, for launching such activity that would help many people who are in need of blood,” expressed Brother Ruel dela Cruz, district CFO overseer. — With reports from INC News Section
