“As human beings, we are all susceptible to injuries, illnesses and trauma. We never know when injury may happen to us, our loved ones or the people around us. That is why it is always important to have some basic knowledge about first aid,” said Sarah Jane C. Co, a registered nurse and member of the Local Congregation of Macau, Ecclesiastical District of Macau.

On January 16, 2022, she led her fellow Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members in a seminar on basic first aid procedures as the resource speaker.

The seminar took place at said congregation’s place of worship at allowed capacity to comply with the health and safety protocols. A number of brethren connected through videoconferencing while at their respective houses.

The guest speaker imparted to the attendees the basics of performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, among other first aid skills. She emphasized that it is vital to provide CPR for someone who is in cardiac arrest, while waiting for the medical team to arrive to restore breathing and blood circulation, thus putting his life from further health risks, and worse, from death. “By having knowledge about first aid, our brethren can now respond quickly and appropriately if there is an emergency situation until help arrives,” she added.

A question-and-answer portion followed during which Co enlightened the brethren on basic first aid procedures for common injuries at home and in the workplace.

The brethren expressed thankfulness to such activities launched by the Church Administration that provided them with helpful insights not only for their welfare but also for their family, and their fellowmen. — With reports from INC News Section
