Brethren from several local congregations in the Ecclesiastical District of Ilocos Sur worked hand-in-hand in the cleanup of the Darapidap Baywalk and Park in Candon City on August 12, 2022. The volunteers were from the local congregations of Candon City, Santiago, Ambucao, Gabao, Banayoyo, Banucal, San Jose, Tamurong, and several extensions. Prospective members also participated in the said environmental activity.

Located in Brgy. Darapidap, the baywalk and park is a popular place of relaxation for locals and tourist alike. A 36-feet lighthouse serves as its main attraction.

In the clean-up activity, the brethren collected and disposed trash that they found along the beach.

“Not only we were able to show our concern for the environment, but the activity also strengthened the bond of the brethren,” said Wilma Manzano, a Church officer from the Local Congregation of Candon City.

“We can see the activeness of the brethren, led by the Church officers and every head of the household, in participating in all the endeavors of the Church including our concern for the environment,” attested Brother Willy Arjay Soriano, Candon City Congregation’s resident minister. — With reports from INC News Section
