On May 14, 2022, Buklod members from the Ecclesiastical District of Bataan, in the Philippines, joined hands in cleaning the Balanga Wetland and Nature Park. A bird sanctuary, it is known as one of the best birding spots in the country. It also features an eco-trail that winds through a mangrove forest. Manila Bay is visible from its viewing decks.

“It’s a pleasure for us to be of help in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the environment while also encouraging our fellow Buklod members to stay active in Church activities,” said Ariel Beraya, the Buklod district president.

The Buklod members first gathered at the house of worship of the Local Congregation of Puerto Rivas for a prayer before going to the park, nine kilometers away. As they walked along the trail, they took the time to spot and pick up trash, such as plastic wastes and other refuse, and disposed of them properly afterwards.

“My age is not a hindrance to participate in this activity. Through this, I’m able to not only continue uniting with the activities that the Church Administration launches but also bond with my loved ones and friends,” said Aracely Chavez, a Buklod member and a senior citizen from the Local Congregation of Puerto Rivas. — With reports from INC News Section
