On December 4, 2021, Iglesia Ni Cristo members from the local congregations and extensions in the towns found in the central part of Bulacan, Philippines participated in the blood donation drive sponsored by the Bulacan Ecclesiastical District in cooperation with the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI).
Regular as well as new volunteers gathered at the Bustos Gymnasium in Bustos, Bulacan for the humanitarian event held under the auspices of the Church’s Social Services Office (SSO).
Dr. Alison Pagarigan of the NKTI explained the benefits of giving blood regularly. “Aside from providing better blood circulation, blood donation also helps regulate our blood pressure. We encourage those capable to donate to do so every three months,” she said.
“There is a profound sense of fulfillment in uniting with this endeavor of the Church because through this I am able to help those in need. While it can also be of help to me, to my body,” said a blood donor, Andrelyn Ramos, a secretary from the Local Congregation of Mapalad.
Days prior, the Church officers held meetings and devotional prayers—online, to comply with health protocols—to prepare for the activity. “With God’s mercy, we successfully conducted this event,” said Rouzes Nofuente, DMD, and the Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS) district president. “I thank also the Church Administration for guiding us all the way through.” — With reports from INC News Section
