Seizing summer, Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members from the Local Congregation of Burlington, Ecclesiastical District of Southern Ontario in Canada once again proved their unity by participating in the Gulayan sa Bakuran, the vegetable gardening project launched by the Church Administration.
On July 13, 2021, at the confines of their respective houses, every member of the family had fun together in preparing the soil at either garden plots and yards, garden boxes, and planting pots, after which they sowed the vegetable seeds and saplings.
The brethren said that they will diligently water and take care of their plants. They planted not only ornamental plants but also fruit-bearing plants for harvesting.
Brother Ramil Macaspac II, district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer, shared its relevance: “This activity not only provides the brethren an alternative source of food, which they themselves cultivated and planted, but also gives families more opportunities to bond and spend quality time together. We need activities like this especially during this pandemic, to further strengthen every Christian family.”
This project is also conducted by brethren throughout the ecclesiastical district, such as in the local congregations of Mississauga North, London, Guelph, Brampton, Norval, and Niagara Falls who have grown their own vegetables and even harvested from them. — With reports from INC News Section
