Calgary District holds awarding ceremony for Unity Games

Players, organizers, game officials, and other brethren gathered at the Bowness Park on July 3, 2022, in Calgary, Canada, for the awarding ceremony of this year’s Unity Games in the Ecclesiastical District of Calgary.

The district supervising minister, Brother Rolando Gaviola, led the awarding of medals and trophies to the winners of the district’s edition of the various sports played on June 26 and July 1, 2022 at the Genesis Centre in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

The basketball team from the Local Congregation of Red Deer won the Buklod Men’s category, while that from the Local Congregation of Spruce Meadows won in the KADIWA and Binhi.

The teams from Falconridge and Capitol Hill respectively won in the KADIWA and Binhi volleyball matches.

Joemar Jovellanos (from the Local Congregation of Capitol Hill), Sally Menor (Downtown) ­– Buklod division placed first in bowling; Lance Cayco (Forest Heights), Jessica Galera (Falconridge) – KADIWA; Renx Cayco (Forest Heights), and Blessie Maranon (Downtown) – Binhi.

In badminton’s singles categories, Ryan Caldona (Spruce Meadows), and Jilian Maniego (Falconridge) won, in its doubles were Charson and Carrington Catabay (both from Forest Heights). Chess winners in respective categories were Exequiel Becaylas (Red Deer), Gervin Cau (Riverbend), and Kurt Manlapaz (Lethbridge). In the darts, Ariel Gacutan (Lethbridge) topped.

“These are competitive games, but the moment we all stepped on the court, took oath of sportsmanship, and all prayed together to God, all of us are already winners. The wins are all just bonus. At the end of the day, all of us are brothers and sisters in the faith,” said Brother Johnny Adalla, ministerial worker. — With reports from INC News Section
