A total of 150 seedlings of walnut trees were planted by the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members from the Ecclesiastical District of Caloocan North in the Philippines, during their tree-planting activity at La Mesa Eco Park Watershed, Quezon City on April 22, 2023.

In coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), this activity led by Brother Ariel B. Barzaga, district supervising minister, was made possible “through the unified efforts of the district’s Christian Family Organizations (CFO) officers,” said Marlon Mercado, Buklod district president. “It was a fulfilling experience. To be able to bond with our family while participating in Church activities is always remarkable for us,” he added.

The brethren followed the guidelines given by DENR officials on which spots to plant their seedlings, thus considering seedlings’ distance from each other proper distance and depth in planting.

Admiring such environmental concern, Cornelio Tablante, a DENR representative, said, “I thank the Church for this activity. We really need volunteers who are true to this worthy cause of caring for nature. These seedlings will grow as trees that would benefit future generations.” — With reports from Namilhyn Komatsu of INC News Section
