Brethren from the Ecclesiastical District of Capas, Tarlac, Philippines spread good vibes not only among themselves but also to the community as they conducted the INC Unity Games at the Lapus Sports Complex on March 12, 2021.
“I am very happy that despite the pandemic, the Church continues this sports activity,” said Rhendel Panlaqui, who was among those who played checkers. Other games played during the event were chess, Game of the Generals, Scrabble, darts, speed stacks, and speed cubing. There was also a slam dunk, three-point and free-throw shoot out.
“This is an effective way to ease the anxiety and stress brought by the pandemic,” remarked Concepcion municipal mayor Andy Lacson, who came to the event. “We are happy that this activity was conducted here in our town.”
The event organizers made sure that the health and safety protocols were followed by players at all times.
Brethren from all over the district watched and supported the players through videoconferencing.
“This activity is helpful especially in this time of pandemic for the brethren to keep an active lifestyle. Although most of them are in their homes, they were able to watch through modern technology, and this can edify each one of us,” Brother Rafael Rivera, a ministerial worker, said. — With reports from INC News Section
