Under the Care for Humanity program of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ), a Seniors Appreciation Day was hosted by brethren from the Local Congregation of Saint-Laurent, Quebec, Ecclesiastical District of Ottawa, for the residents of Centre d’hébergement St-Margaret, on December 3, 2022.

According to its published literature, the Centre cares “for aging members of the community who are no longer able to function independently and whose safety and well-being are entrusted to us by their families.”

Brethren from the local congregation, including those in the Children’s Worship Service (CWS), officers and members alike, prepared musical performances for the elderly and the staff of the Centre. As a part of the program, CWS members gave to the residents, along with some sweets, “thank you” cards they themselves made.

“I’m touched by the singing. It was overwhelming,” said a Mrs. Molly, one of the residents. “What you’re doing takes a lot of time and dedication. Keep up the good work.”

Taking the opportunity to introduce to those present the Church Of Christ, a short video presentation about it, its global humanitarian activities, and the biblical reason behind it, was shown.

Afterwards, the brethren handed over care packages to the residents. These contained several personal care items, among other hygiene products. The brethren were led in the activity by Brother Melvin Ibañez, resident minister. — With assistance from INC News Section
