A special screening of the movie Kahoy was hosted by the Ecclesiastical District of Davao del Norte, in Mindanao, Philippines on January 15, 2023 in the Tagumpay Theatre at the Tagum City Historical & Cultural Center to bring its message based on the pure gospel to the brethren and their guests.

The film, whose title is the Filipino word for “wood,” tells the story of Victor and his family who realized in a painful way the folly and danger of putting one’s trust in a graven image—which according to the Bible the Lord God strictly forbids. It was produced by the Christian Era Broadcasting Services Inc. (CEBSI) and premiered in 2022.

“This film produced by CEBSI is beautiful and truly entertaining to watch. Overall, Kahoy brought activeness to the Church officers and brethren,” Brother Israel Flores, district supervising minister, said in an interview. “For the guests and prospective members, the film conveyed a clear message: graven images are not to be worshipped. Graven images and idols are false gods.”

Addressing the guests before the screening began, Brother Flores encouraged them to examine God’s teachings that the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) upholds. — With reports from INC News Section
