With the approval of the Church Administration, Iglesia Ni Cristo Central Office personnel who wished to finish their primary or secondary education were given the opportunity to do so without taking a leave from their office duties.

This was through the Alternative Learning System (ALS), program of the Philippines’ Department of Education, which has the New Era University (NEU) as one of the implementing institutions.

The implementation of the ALS for the benefit of the volunteer staffs in the Central Office is a joint project of the Personnel Office and the Christian Family Organizations (CFO) Office in collaboration with the NEU.

It was formally launched on December 9, 2022 through a fitting program at the University Hall, in the NEU main building in New Era, Quezon City.

At the start of the program, Brother Arnel T. Verceles, head of Personnel Office of the INC Central Office, read the message of Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, the Executive Minister.

Brother Jaimar Orosa, NEU liaison officer, said, “This effort is part of the concern and love of Brother Eduardo V. Manalo and Brother Angelo Eraño V. Manalo, CFO coordinator, for the volunteer workers who were not given the opportunity to complete elementary and high school education in formal schools.”

Dr. Nilo Rosas, NEU president, expressed “hope that enrollees will finish elementary, then proceed to high school. And, eventually complete a degree in college. So, NEU will play a vital role in carrying out this program.”

Honored to be among the ALS teachers, Lorena Espina, said, “The program will run for ten months, starting January until October 2023. We’ll teach academic subjects that include various applications which they would use in real life situations.”

“This [program] is a great blessing because I could continue my studies and help me pursue a career in the future. Thank you to the Church Administration for giving us the opportunities to reach and fulfill our dreams,” Elyssa Demillo, an enrollee of the program, said.  — With reports from INC News Section and Erdz Malli
