With God’s help, the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) was able to establish another local congregation in Zambia following the first one, the Local Congregation of Lusaka, Zambia.
The inaugural worship service of the Local Congregation of Great North, the Church’s second local congregation in the south-central African country, was held on September 25, 2022 with Brother Andrey B. Silva, supervising minister of the Ecclesiastical District of Southeastern Africa, leading its pioneering members.
The momentous occasion took place at a property acquired by the Church and converted into a place of worship, which is situated at 26216/M, Zani Muone West, Kabwe, Lusaka, about 12 kilometers from the Lusaka, Zambia Congregation’s house of worship where the brethren originally attended worship services.
In his homily, Brother Silva preached about giving importance to the spiritual over the material, that is, prioritizing worship of God despite the problems and worries in this life. Through the Bible he reassured the brethren that their efforts and sacrifices in serving Him are not in vain because He promised to bless them with the good things they aspire for.
The oath taking of the local leadership followed after the homily. Goodson Frank Poya took oath as head deacon. “It’s only through God’s help that I’m able to continue fulfilling my Church duties,” he said. “And there is the Church Administration who sees to it that our welfare is well taken care of. I will encourage my fellow brethren to keep on actively participating in all Church activities.”
The Church Administration has assigned Brother John Mae Manzo as the resident minister of the newly established congregation. — With reports from INC News Section
