The Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS) in the Ecclesiastical District of Albay in the Philippines led the Lingap sa Mamamayan (Care for Humanity)-Medical and Dental Mission in Barangay Macalaya, Castilla on March 12, 2023.

Castilla is a town in Sorsogon Province but is within the territorial scope of the Church’s district in Albay, the neighboring province to the north. The said mission’s organizers led by Brother Eric B. Zaratan, district supervising minister, and Brother Michael C. Pelaez, district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer, decided to reach out to the residents of Macalaya because it is “among [the] areas in Castilla that are far from hospitals,” according to Brother Reggie Barcellano, ministerial worker in the Dinapa Local Congregation. Dinapa is also a village in Castilla.

Two hundred and fifty residents benefited from this humanitarian activity. They received the care packages on their way out of the venue. Gina Lagatan, among the recipients, happily said, “I’m grateful to the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) for looking after us with free medical checkup, medicines, and the care packages.”

Dr. Aldrine Olaguer, CMDPS officer, said, “It’s a privilege that through my profession I become instrumental in helping not only my fellow brethren but also our fellowmen who are in need of medical and dental services.” — With reports from INC News Section
