With the recent addition of a group worship service in Nazareth, the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) through the Ecclesiastical District of Mediterranean now maintains seven groupings of worshipers located in the more prominent cities in Israel.

On January 16, most of these groups and congregations met for their first Unity Games for this year. Brethren from the Haifa, Jerusalem, and Tel Aviv local congregations; Akko Extension; and Be’er Sheva and Nazareth group worship services (GWS) joined up for the sports event they held at the Community Sports Center Kiryat Eliezer, a sports complex in Haifa, Israel.

“Unity Games benefit the brethren, not only physically but also spiritually as they are able to fulfill one of the commandments of God, which is to promote the love of brotherhood,” explained Brother Ramil Regino, district supervising minister. “We are joyful this day because from various congregations here in Israel, we’re gathered in one place so that we can have fun and enjoy time with one another through sports activities.”

Teams from every congregations vied in games of basketball and volleyball, both in men and women categories. Individual players competed in scrabble, checkers, chess, and darts.

The Local Congregation of Tel Aviv emerged as the over-all champion, winning most of the group games—women’s basketball and men’s/women’s volleyball—and individual games. The Jerusalem and Haifa congregations landed 1st runner up and 2nd runner up, respectively. — With reports from INC News Section
