On July 8, 2022, brethren from the local congregations under the Ecclesiastical District of Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, Philippines, met for their district’s INC Unity Games.

“This is the first activity of its kind after the easing of restrictions. Participating in activities such as this, makes us more active in serving our Lord God,” said Mary Joy Dequillo, a Buklod member from the Local Congregation of Hinoba-an.

For the basketball and volleyball matches, the participants gathered at the Cong. Agustin M. Gatuslad Memorial Center, in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, Philippines. Other sports activities were conducted at the covered courts of Barangays 4 and 2 in Himamaylan City.

“The brethren were not hindered by the [inclement] weather to participate in the district’s Unity Games. Many brethren showed their skill in playing and they were happy to take part in this event,” Renel Genova, district Buklod president, said.

In basketball, Kabankalan, Isabela, and Sipalay areas won in the Buklod, KADIWA, and Binhi categories, respectively. For volleyball men, the Bantayan area team bested the other teams in the Buklod and KADIWA; while the team from the Isabela area won in the Binhi category. In volleyball women, Isabela area emerged as champion in the KADIWA and Binhi categories; Bantayan area in the Buklod category.

“The Unity Games not only helped in making the brethren’s physical body strong but also strengthened their bond as brothers and sisters in the faith,” Brother Jay Tamase, district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer, explained. “The brethren are always prepared to unite in the various activities of the Church because they firmly believe that these will edify their faith for them to uphold their membership in the Church Of Christ,” he added. — With reports from INC News Section
