On November 6, 2021, Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members of the KADIWA and Binhi organizations in the neighboring local congregations of Danao and Escalante City, Ecclesiastical District of Negros del Norte joined hands to clean the stretch of beachfront at Sitio Palanas, Barangay Old Poblacion, Escalante City, Negros Occidental, Philippines.
Before the start of the environmental activity, which was supervised by Brother Orlly Telebrico, resident ministerial worker of the Local Congregation of Escalante City, the young brethren first joined a prayer at their respective houses of worship. Whereas the youth from Danao had to only walk towards the site, those from Escalante had to take transportation as their house of worship is about seven kilometers distant from Palanas.
Wearing face masks and disposable nitrile gloves, they picked up trash and debris that littered the shoreline, and afterwards disposed of them properly.
Elnor Mae Barasbaras, KADIWA congregation president of Escalante City, shared that she met with her fellow Church officers from Escalante to plan the activity and then prepare their fellow youth. “This activity is important as we help maintain cleanliness on our own little ways, reducing the adverse effect of solid waste not only to the environment but also to our health, and everyday life,” she said. — With reports from INC News Section
