Society of Communicators and Networkers, International (SCAN) members in the Ecclesiastical District of Davao West attended the Emergency First Responder Enhancement and Refresher Course on May 15, 2020.
Through video conferencing, the brethren participated from their own homes.
Lucky Ilagan, head of the Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Response, discussed basic first aid and other measures to take in responding to emergency situations.
“I am honored to have been tapped to share my knowledge in first aid to my fellow EFR who are also members of SCAN. It was challenging for me because the training was held online—which is somehow unusual for such an activity. This activity only proves that a crisis is not an obstacle so that one can learn disaster preparedness and emergency response,” said Lucky.
Attendees expressed how they benefited from the activity.
Stephen Arbole, SCAN member from Panacan Congregation, said, “I am delighted that although we are in the midst of this pandemic, the Church Administration is taking steps to ensure that the skills and know-how of EFR responders in the Church remain dependable.”
Esmeralda Yecyec, another member from Tibungco Congregation, stated, “We should never forget basic first aid.” — With reports from INC News Section
