The Ecclesiastical District of Leyte East continues to triumph in the works of edification amidst the continuing pandemic. Hundreds of recruits for various Church duties took their oath during an online monthly meeting of Church officers on September 28, 2021.
Would-be officers in various departments like the Secretariat, Finance, Children’s Worship Service (CWS), among others gathered in their respective local congregations throughout the district. The house of worship of the Local Congregation of Tacloban City served as the host site for the gathering.
The sacred gathering was led by Brother Eraño P. Fabella, the district supervising minister. Through a Bible-based homily, he emphasized to the attendees that God is the One Who adds officers in the Church, therefore, one should consider it a great blessing to be counted among the officers in the Church Of Christ. He reiterated to them that as Church officers, they should not neglect their divine duty.
Among the newly-sworn Church officers were Yasmin Vertudazo and Jhonova Vertudazo, both enlisted in the Local Congregation of Javier. “Being a Church officer makes me feel that God is closer to me, that I can endure any trials for I know God is with me,” Yasmin, a newly-sworn finance officer, said in an interview.
Jhonova, a newly-sworn KADIWA officer, said, “There is a need for additional Church officers in our local congregation and I want to help the Church Administration for the edification of the brethren in our congregation. I promise to always fulfill my Church duties wholeheartedly.”
Health and safety protocols were strictly implemented by each local congregation throughout the entirety of the event as the province remains under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) status.
