On July 29, 2022, residents of Divinubo Island, which lies about 2.5 kilometers off the coast of Borongan City, Eastern Samar, Philippines, received aid from and gained knowledge about the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) through the outreach-evangelical mission held there through the auspices of the Ecclesiastical District of Eastern Samar.

On the said date, a delegation of ministers, ministerial workers, and brethren from various local congregations of the Church in mainland Samar went to the island to not only extend material aid to the residents but, most importantly, to share the true Christian faith.

Emmalyn Dulfo, Barangay Chairman of Divinubo, attested, “There are 203 households living in the island and most of them experience poverty.”

“I don’t know where to go to be able to provide for my family. It’s really hard,” said Hanio Labong, a husband and father. His wife, Jemmalyn, shared, “It’s depressing to see the condition of my family. I feel helpless because we don’t have a stable source of income to sustain our needs.”

Through the outreach-evangelical mission held at the village’s multipurpose hall, the residents of Divinubo, including the Labongs, received relief packages containing several food items.

Brother Rico Melgar, district supervising minister, expressed, “The islanders were happy and grateful to the Church Administration. They felt our concern for them. Having reached Divinubo, the Church Of Christ, just from the opening months of this year, have already reached out to at least ten island communities here in the province of Eastern Samar.”

More importantly, through the preaching of God’s words by Brother Joy Malte, minister of the gospel, the islanders learned about what God commands so that they will be saved when Judgment Day comes and inherit life eternal in the Holy City

Vivian Batola, a resident and a teacher by profession, expressed, “I admire the Church Of Christ and appreciate what they did for us. To those who went here, thank you so much. You helped us in our daily needs and uplifted our spiritual life.”

“I’m willing to learn more about the Church Of Christ because I want to be saved,” said Dominador Catudio, another resident-beneficiary. — With reports from INC News Section
