Iglesia Ni Cristo members such as those from the Ecclesiastical District of Davao de Oro are reaping the benefits of the Gulayan sa Bakuran program especially in this time of the Covid-19-induced lockdown when many could not go to work and are worried of their basic needs.
This backyard gardening program was launched by the Church Administration through the Christian Family Organizations (CFO) a few years back, with the welfare of the brethren always in mind.
On May 5, 2020, Arnold Perez, a Church officer from the Local Congregation of Mawab, harvested fresh vegetables from his backyard garden.
“This is a great help to my family especially now that no one is allowed to go out due to the lockdown imposed by the government because of the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said. “I thank the Church Administration for such beneficial activity. The Lord God used them as an instrument to help us in this time of crisis.”
Through the same livelihood program, Roberto Carbonera from the Paloc Local Congregation, Jason Baron from New Leyte, and Renante Dejito from Maawab they not only have a source of food but also additional income for their respective families from selling some of their gardens’ produce. ― With reports from INC News Section
