To promote awareness among the brethren of the health hazards of smoking, the leadership of the Ecclesiastical District of Italy North, through the Christian Family Organizations (CFO), hosted a seminar on March 26, 2023.

Brother Randolf Villajuan, CFO district overseer, supervised the health seminar which took place primarily at the place of worship of the Bergamo Group Worship Service (GWS). Brethren from other local congregations attended online in their respective homes.

Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS) officers Evson Rey Capuno, a nurse, and Shaina Paguinto and Clarisse Afable, nursing students, led the discussion, highlighting the negative effects of smoking not only to “the smoker’s health but also to that of the unwilling victims, who could be his or her loved ones.” They went on to show some ways to avoiding and to quit smoking, among other related and important matters.

“The seminar was truly informative and timely.” Roi Hansel De Luna, a district multimedia officer from Bergamo GWS, said. “Smoking can have long term effects leading to lung and heart diseases, and some of its causes are peer pressure and parental influence.”

“It’s a pleasure for me to spread awareness about health to be of help to my fellow brethren,” Paguinto expressed. “I hope that we will be able to organize more activities of this kind.” — With reports from INC News Section
