As part of their activities in connection with their local congregation’s 57th anniversary, Buklod and KADIWA officers from the Local Congregation of Himamaylan, Ecclesiastical District of Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental in the Philippines held a clean-up activity on October 11, 2021.

“We want to be of help in taking care of our environment which, in a way, impacts on our health, too,” said Aniolino Desierdo, KADIWA congregation president. He added that this activity was timely “especially now that it’s a rainy season here, so that we could at least reduce the risk of getting sick because of flooding due to untidy environment.”

With their face masks on, the brethren tidied up a stretch of Olmedo Street, near the local congregation’s house of worship. They used various cleaning tools and materials such as broomsticks, dust pans, rakes, and trash bags in the activity. Afterwards, they made sure that the trash be disposed of properly.

“It is fulfilling to be among those who unite with the activities being launched by our Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo. I firmly believe that this activity is not just cleaning and caring for the environment but, most importantly, glorifying before God’s sight,” said Fernando Pinanonang, who also brought along his family for the activity.

“This is a good endeavor, as the saying goes ‘cleanliness is next to godliness.’ Truly it is pleasing to the eyes whenever the surroundings are clean,” said Suzette Segovia, a resident who saw this activity of the Iglesia Ni Cristo.  — With reports from INC News Section
