“To further [strengthen] the bond of the brethren, further develop the brethren’s sportsmanship, and also foster health awareness,” thus said Brother Jonathan Jove, the district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer, as he enumerated the aims of the recently concluded INC Unity Games-Badminton edition in the Ecclesiastical District of Hong Kong.
Held on September 5, 2021 through the efforts of the CFO district leadership, the activity brought together badminton-enthusiasts from the Buklod, KADIWA, and Binhi organizations of various local congregations at the Canton Road Playground, Hong Kong. Participants followed the health and safety protocols throughout the event.
“We are very happy because we were given an opportunity to take part in this kind of activity in our district,” remarked Kirk Sarmiento, a choir member from the Local Congregation of Kwun Tong.
“Aside from practicing,” said Genevieve Marie Macaraeg, a Church officer from the Local Congregation of Kowloon, “I watched video clips about badminton to learn more techniques.”
“I practiced hard and prepared well for this activity,” enthused Anamie Loreco, Buklod officer from the Local Congregation of Sai Kung, New Territories, whose team won the game.
The brethren expressed their gratitude to the Church Administration for such an activity that provides them an avenue to bond together. ― With reports from INC News Section
