In unity with the Church in its charitable endeavors, hundreds of qualified brethren from Bataan Province, Philippines volunteered as donors during their ecclesiastical district’s blood donation drive on June 12, 2023.
Bataan District supervising minister Brother Isaias Antinew led all blood donors, including fellow ministers, at the humanitarian event conducted at a mall in Balanga City.
One of the donors, Brother Robert Polancos, resident minister of the Local Congregation of Bacong, said, “The Bible ascribes the reason the Church Administration launched such activity. The Savior Himself taught [about and] is a supreme example of helping those in need.” He added, “On behalf of the brethren, we will always be willing to participate in Church works that not only help the society, but also and above all, glorify our Lord God.”
Spearheaded by the Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society in coordination with the Social Services Office (SSO) of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ), the activity yielded 207 blood bags or 207,000 cc.
Registration, screening, and blood extraction were administered with the collaboration of representatives from the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital, whose blood bank was the recipient of the collected bags of blood.
“In my experience of servicing events like this, what the Church Of Christ members showed is truly most remarkable, said Dr. Hillary Villamor, a general practitioner at said hospital. “I can feel the sense of selflessness with the donors’ intent to help those in need. I am so thankful to be part of this activity. It was quite an experience seeing such a long line of people willing to help others. I salute the Church for such valuable effort.” — With reports from Annabele Penuliar of INC News Section
