“This is an immense help for us. Thank you, Church Of Christ, for helping us,” said Chadi Abedalrazek, representative of the Flemingdon Foodbank during the Aid to Humanity conducted by the Church’s district in Greater Toronto, Canada on September 5, 2021.

Facilitated by the Felix Y. Manalo Foundation, Inc., the humanitarian arm of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ), the charitable event was held at the house of worship compound of the Local Congregation of Yorkdale and was also witnessed from their homes by many brethren through videoconferencing.

Greater Toronto Ecclesiastical District supervising minister, Brother Glendo Baitan, led the turnover of the cheque donation and 98 boxes of non-perishable food items to representatives of the Flemingdon Food Bank. The food bank distributes fresh and shelf-stable food every day to approximately 5,000 people every month.

This outreach activity came at the heels of three consecutive Aid to Humanity events in Canada in the past ten days: on August 27, in Kingston, Ontario and in Manning, Alberta; and on August 28, in Gatineau, Quebec.

“For us members of the Church Of Christ, Aid to Humanity event is very important because, whenever we do this, it is when we get the chance to reach out to our fellowmen, members of the Church or not, those who are having a hard time [on] making ends meet, and those who are affected when it comes to their economic stature,” said Brother Baitan. — With reports from INC News Section
