The Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ), through the Local Congregation of Port Moresby in the Ecclesiastical District of Australia West, donated relief packages to Cheshire disAbility Services PNG, a “non-governmental and charitable organization for Persons with Disabilities and those who are at a higher risk of developing disabilities in PNG.”
The turn-over ceremony of the donations took place in Hohola, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea on November 21, 2021.
Led by the district supervising minister, Brother Romeo Beltran, and the resident minister of the Port Moresby Congregation, Brother Regino Manangan Jr., the brethren handed over boxes of non-perishable foods, among other daily essentials.
Mr. Bernard Ayieko, the shelter’s general manager in Papua New Guinea, received the food items on behalf of its constituents. He expressed appreciation to the Church Of Christ “for being in the forefront of fighting poverty, of helping humanity.”
Merolyn Tuwasa, a school teacher and a fellow volunteer with Mr. Ayieko, said: “They [the shelter’s constituents] feel hopeless because of the disability that they have. But [as] people like you coming here, showing that you care, brings a big message to them. They see there is hope. They see that they are [still] part of population, that they are not left out.”
“Thank you, Church Of Christ, for coming here, donating these things,” she added. — With reports from INC News Section
