A few days before the National Capital Region reverted to Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), the most strict quarantine level in the Philippines, due to the emerging threat of the more contagious Delta variant of Covid-19, the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ), through the leadership of the Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, held Aid to Humanity events.
On August 4, 2021, it was held in the Ecclesiastical District of Metro Manila East.
The district supervising minister, Brother Gerino Lalata, led the turn-over of relief packages to the local congregations in the district. From there, resident ministers and ministerial workers, together with the Church officers, handed these over to the brethren under their care. Even prospective members benefited.
Brother Lalata said, “Due to the pandemic, many have lost their jobs here and many more are struggling to keep theirs. That is why this aid led by the Executive Minister is timely.”
“Me and my husband had just lost our jobs,” said Marites Villalva, deaconess from the Local Congregation of Ilugin. “I thank the Executive Minister who indefatigably looks after our welfare, spiritually and materially. These relief packages are a great assistance to us.” — With reports from INC News Section
