“This activity is the local congregation’s response to the district’s weekly edification project. Activities for this project are conducted on Saturdays or Sundays—on the brethren’s day off,” Brother Ritchie Arcega, resident minister of the Local Congregation of Shatin, Ecclesiastical District of Hong Kong, said. He was speaking about the bowling activity held at the Belair Bowling Center, Belair Garden, Shatin, New Territories on August 29, 2021.

The activity, which was supervised by officers in the Christian Family Organizations (CFO), brought together brethren from various areas in the local congregation.

“These activities are not only for the activeness of the brethren but also for relaxation from their work, as many of them can only go out once a week. It also is an opportunity for the members to bond with the prospective members in the congregation,” Brother Arcega added.

The brethren made sure to follow health and safety protocols, such as wearing of face masks and social distancing, throughout the activity.

“This has a great impact for the brethren. They are eased of their homesickness because for quite some time now, many have not been able to visit their families because of the pandemic,” Brother Arcega further said.

The brethren were thankful as they represented their respective area. Not only were they able to conduct physical exercise but also they were able to unite in a Church activity.

“We are joyful because this [activity] paved the way for us to be together. In a way, we forget the loneliness of being far from our loved ones when we unite in the activities launched by the Church Administration,” Leovelyn Agaloos, one of the participants, said. — With reports from INC News Section
