Church Of Christ members from the J.P. Laurel and Kibualan local congregations, Ecclesiastical District of General Santos City, South Cotabato in the Philippines received aid from the Church Administration for their immediate needs in the aftermath of an earthquake that hit Southern Mindanao on July 11, 2020.
“The source of living of many brethren here in J.P. Laurel and Kibualan local congregations is mostly planting fruits and vegetables. When the earthquake struck our place, their livelihood was also affected,” Brother Louie Divinagracia, resident ministerial worker, said.
Leo Arellano, one of the beneficiaries, narrated, “Our barangay captain told us to evacuate to the school and he said to go back to our house the next day. Seeing our house, there are many cracks on the wall, the pillar of the house is broken same with the tiles on the floor.”
The Church Of Christ quickly aided the brethren who were affected by the earthquake and gave them relief packages. Brother Noel Bocario Sr., district supervising minister, led the Aid to Humanity outreach activity conducted at the compound of J.P. Laurel Congregation on July 14, 2020.
“The Church Administration promptly sent help when they heard that Mindanao experienced an earthquake. We are here to extend financial help for the brethren whose houses were damaged by the calamity. Thank you very much, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, for your continuous concern for the welfare of our brethren and most of all, we thank our Lord God for helping through the Church Administration,” he said. — With reports from INC News Section
