On January 5, 2022, KADIWA members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) from various local congregations throughout the Ecclesiastical District of Zamboanga del Sur virtually gathered to learn about the importance of mental health awareness.

From the house of worship of the Local Congregation of Napolan, the host site, Brother Manuel Nasol Jr., the district counselor, shared with the attendees the importance of knowing how to handle stress so as not to succumb to depression. More than the coping mechanisms that people readily turn to, such as one’s family or friends, he taught the KADIWA members to turn to God and remain His faithful and obedient servants. From the Bible, he gave them encouragement by reminding them that God will not forsake them.

In the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ), a district counselor is a minister of the gospel who has undergone training in counseling and is assigned to a specific ecclesiastical district.

Catherine Arañas, KADIWA officer, said that she learned “how important it is to take care of our mental health.” More than personal welfare, it is needed “in order for us to stay active in serving God.”

On behalf of his fellow youth, Aldrin Custodio, Napolan Congregation’s KADIWA president, said, “We thank Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, the Executive Minister, for approving activities like this that not only provide us helpful insights but most especially further edification of our faith.” — With reports from INC News Section
