Aside from the usual reason of going to the park, which is to spend time with the family while enjoying nature, Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members from the Local Congregation of Kalihi, Ecclesiastical District of Hawaii-Pacific, aimed for another yet nobler purpose.

On April 15, 2023, the brethren together with respective families shared their faith with their fellowmen leisurely strolling around the Kapiolani Park, the largest and second oldest public park in Hawaii.

Over free coffee, pastries, and casual conversations, the brethren were able to give more than 100 copies of the Pasugo: God’s Message magazine to those they met, many of whom right away read it.

Having met people from different walks of life, Brother Patricio Sugue, head deacon, enthused, “We’re happy because we’ve had great conversations, and shared not only some food but especially our faith.”

On behalf of the congregation, Brother Emil Roque, resident minister, said, “We in Kalihi will remain ever united with the Church Administration in sharing our faith.”

The Local Congregation of Kalihi was established in April 2018. Its house of worship is located along 2200 Kamehameha Highway, Honolulu, Hawaii, approximately three miles away from the Church’s first local congregation outside the Philippines, the Local Congregation of Honolulu, which was established 55 years ago, on July 27, 1968. — With assistance from Siegfred T.
