Expressing their concern for the environment, young members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) from the Local Congregation of Kilim, and Hibunawan Extension, Ecclesiastical District of Leyte West conducted coastal cleanup activities, on March 18 and 19, 2022, respectively.

KADIWA and Binhi officers of both congregations led their fellow young brethren. Those from Kilim tidied up the coastal area near their house of worship situated at Barangay Kilim, while those from the latter chose as site for the activity Sitio Brandy, Barangay Candadam. Both barangays or villages are within Baybay City, Leyte, Philippines.

With their cleaning materials, the youth combed the beach for litter such as plastic products, torn fishing nets, flotsam and jetsam among others, which they then properly disposed of.

“It is our pleasure to be of help in maintaining our seas clean,” said Malou Pernites from Hibunawan. On behalf of her fellow youth, she added, “Through this activity, we hope to encourage other youth to help in caring for our environment.” — With reports from INC News Section
