In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Ecclesiastical District of Leyte East, in the Philippines, the brethren there participated in a grand anniversary celebration held on May 30, 2022. The activity was conducted in two venues, namely, the Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) Auditorium, in Tacloban City (for the brethren in the northern part of the district) and for those in the south, in Villa Catalina Resort in the town of Sogod, Southern Leyte.

In each of the venues, a video presentation of the district’s history from its establishment to the present, was shown. Afterwards, performers delighted the audience from both venues connected via videoconferencing by presenting various musical numbers featuring original Iglesia Ni Cristo music. Performances in the EVSU Auditorium were broadcast live to Villa Catalina, and vice versa.

Among the highly-anticipated performances were those of the winners in the recently concluded district-wide choral competition, those of the wives of the ministers and ministerial workers, and those of the ministers and ministerial workers themselves.

Through the activity, the brethren pondered upon the wondrous things God did for them including saving them from calamities and for upholding them in the faith as they go through trials in life.

“The celebration of the 40th anniversary of our district shows the continuing help of God to all of us. Through the event, the brethren not only showcased their talents but they also got acquainted with other brethren thus, strengthening the bond of brotherhood and their faith,” said Brother Enrique Libunao, resident ministerial worker of the Local Congregation of Javier.

The Leyte East Ecclesiastical District comprises 54 local congregations and 10 extensions. It was established as an independent district in 1982. — With reports from INC News Section
