On July 27, 2021, Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members from the Local Congregation of Lutopan, Ecclesiastical District of Carcar City, Cebu went to the Don Andres Soriano (Lutopan) Plaza, Toledo City, Cebu, Philippines to conduct a clean-up drive.
The brethren’s initiative was in connection with their congregation’s 67th anniversary on July 14 and the Church Of Christ’s 107th anniversary on July 27. Led by the resident minister, Brother Elizalde Lamina, the brethren prepared a month prior to this activity.
Upon approval from the Church Administration, they coordinated with the local government to comply to the health and safety protocols being implemented at their area. They then conducted a meeting to give a briefing to all participants. On the actual day, they made sure that everyone wore a face mask throughout the activity. They collected and disposed trash, and swept dirt off the sidewalks.
Brother Lamina said that the activity aimed “to spread awareness among brethren that cleanliness of surroundings will help our community become flood-free.”
On behalf of the congregation, he added: “We thank so much our Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, for his efforts in caring for us, approving activities like this for the brethren’s remaining active in the faith.” — With reports from INC News Section
