On January 16, 2022, brethren from the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) in the Local Congregation of Macau, Ecclesiastical District of Macau attended a plastic recycling workshop. Some of their fellow brethren joined them virtually through videoconferencing at their respective houses to comply with the health and safety protocols.

Brother Jonathan Dela Cruz, a Church officer who has keen interest in environmental preservation, served as the resource speaker. Citing well-researched and reliable information, he discussed the importance of recycling plastic. Since it takes many years for plastic to decompose, he pointed out that it is the public’s responsibility to dispose of plastic wastes properly as a way of helping to conserve the environment. He even demonstrated DIY plastic recycling.

The activity proved to be timely as solid waste in Macau remain at a relatively high level, with a total of 437,539 tons in 2020 according to a government report, when compared to those of its surrounding cities. — With reports from INC News Section
