To help brethren safeguard their privacy online, Iglesia Ni Cristo members from the Ecclesiastical District of Malaysia hosted an Internet security awareness webinar on September 16, 2021. The activity was participated in by brethren in the district via videoconferencing.

Charles Apdua, a member of the Technical Support for Video Streaming (TSV) group in the district and works as a systems engineer of a networking hardware company, served as the keynote speaker. He shared with the attendees tips on how to safeguard their personal information and privacy online, such as limiting their sharing of information, being wary of pop-up notifications, among others.

He also shared with the attendees steps on how to avoid falling victims to online scams and other malicious activities, such as phishing. “Phishing is when cybercriminals send malicious emails or text messages that are designed to trick you,” he detailed. “It is important for us to understand the amount of damage just one phishing attack can do to us personally, like having your hard-earned money stolen from your bank account.”

Brethren thanked the Church Administration for approving such an activity. — With reports from INC News Section
