An awareness seminar about the Coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 was conducted at the house of worship of Binondo Local Congregation, Ecclesiastical District of Manila on February 9, 2020. Brethren from the district attended the said activity.

Brother Dan Omar Leybag, minister of the gospel and head nurse of the New Era General Hospital, spearheaded the activity. “The Church Administration wants the brethren to be knowledgeable of this epidemic for them to avoid it,” he said.

In the seminar, the attendees were given the opportunity to ask questions.

Dr. Catherine Legaspi, vice president of the Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS) in the district, reminded about taking safety precautions, “There is a need for frequent hand wash for 20 seconds and use of alcohol, because transmission can occur by touching or riding public utility vehicles. Wearing of mask is helpful and all should be cautious not to touch their face with their hands unwashed. Social distance of about two meters apart should also be observed.”

After the seminar, a free medical check-up followed and the brethren received free vitamins and face masks.

Brother Leybag added, “In these times of danger and epidemic, the Church Administration continues to teach the brethren that above the medical help in this world, they should pray to God asking for good health and to help them avoid serious illnesses for them to continue serving Him.” ― With reports from INC News Section
