The Christian Society for the Deaf (CSD) leadership from the Ecclesiastical District of Misamis Occidental conducted a Basic Sign Language webinar on September 24, 2021. It drew the attendance of brethren from the Buklod, KADIWA, and Binhi organizations who were interested in learning the basics of communicating with the deaf community.
Brother Ian Buz Acog, the district CSD adviser, led the webinar. He taught the brethren basics in sign language such as how to sign the alphabet, numbers, as well as greetings such as, “Hi,” “Hello,” “good morning,” “good evening,” among others. He also shared with them how to sign Church terminologies. Attendees of the seminar were gathered in their respective house of worship while others were at their homes.
Danilo Tompong, a head deacon from the Local Congregation of Sibugon, and one of the attendees, said that he has always wanted to learn Sign Language because he finds it beneficial as it would give him the skill to communicate even with the deaf.
