Before 2021 ended, the Ecclesiastical District of New Zealand held a district-wide Unity Games-New Normal Edition. On December 26-27, 2021, brethren from various local congregations and Group Worship Services (GWS) participated in various events held at EA Networks Centre, 20 River Terrace, Ashburton, New Zealand. Benefiting from the country’s robust Covid-response, the district was able to hold this activity as it has done in the past two years.

Through the leadership of Brother Dennis Dahunan, the district supervising minister, and with the aid of all Christian Family Organizations (CFO) district officers, led by the district CFO overseer, Brother Edgar Hernandez, the participants were reminded of the existing government rules on who can attend both indoor and outdoor recreational events.

“A lot of brethren really came today to give their support and unity to the Church Administration,” said Brother Nolly Esperanza, the assistant district supervising minister.

The two-day event started with a warm-up exercise followed by a parade of various teams representing each local congregation, led by its coaches. Several games were featured including volleyball, basketball, badminton, cheer dance, and tug-of-war. Other games included chess, Scrabble, checkers, darts, and others.

“We prepared for this Unity Games alongside my family, my wife, Sister Nikki, and my two kids, Sebastian and Marcus,” said Marlon de Guzman, the district choir director. “This activity is important for us because this is where we meet other brethren from different locals.”

At the closing ceremony, winners were announced and received awards. — With reports from INC News Section
