The Local Congregation of North Signal, Ecclesiastical District of Metro Manila South now has a worship service schedule with Sign Language Interpretation (SLI), the first of which was held last December 1, 2021.
“This progress provided us a great opportunity so we can all the more cater to the spiritual needs of our Deaf brethren. This also paved the way for their being friends with their fellow brethren from our local congregation who are just as eager to be acquainted with them,” said Brother Jonell Leonardo, resident minister. “We thank the Church Administration for approving our worship service schedules with Sign Language interpretation.”
During the said worship service, the singing of hymns of praise led by the choir and the opening prayer were interpreted by Brother Mark Kenneth Flora, one of the ministerial workers assigned in the congregation. Brother Reinzon Echavez, the congregation’s Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer, interpreted the lesson taught by Brother Angelito Cruz Jr., minister of the gospel, as well as the closing prayer and reminders afterward.
“Having Sign Language interpretation is very important for the Deaf people like me, especially during worship services so I could be able to understand the words of God and the prayers that all the more strengthen me in the faith. I am so thankful to the Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo,” Mark Anthony Camba, a congregation secretary, deftly gestured.
The North Signal Local Congregation’s schedule of worship services with SLI is every Wednesday and Saturday, 8 PM. It brings the total number of local congregations in the district with SLI to seven. — With reports from Naida M. Flora
